Greece, always in white & blue

by loloelen

Summer or winter, Greece is always white and blue!  Take a look at this marvelous shot of AC Gounaris and revere the breathtaking colors of my country.

Our national flag is referring to these two colors having the name “Galanolefki” (thus, cyan and white). The white and blue have been interpreted as symbolizing the colors of the sky and sea and I am pretty sure that any visitor of this country has felt under his skin the powerful meaning of both.

Blue is the color of the sky and sea and symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, truth, and heaven while white is the color of perfection and is associated with safety, innocence, purity, and cleanliness.  Together, they offer the impressive sense of light, this rare gift of Greece where you feel the light differently, so much stronger and purer.

But, what you may not know is that you can “meet” blue and white everywhere and in any time season.  You see, Greece is mostly known for the sea and the islands but is so rich in any kind of geographical nature beauty you may prefer, such as mountains, rivers, lakes, valleys ….

This photo was taken at Mount Parnassus,  Central Greece.

I hope i gave you a hint of what is the joy of white and blue.  Just a short tip to those who have the benefit of living with these overwhelming colors … be grateful for your good fortune!
