When folklore meets to some extent temporary minimalism

by loloelen

Summer allows us to “apply” many colorful styles on our look … Greek folklore isn’t the best option? Are you aware of it?

What does it mean “Folklore“? If you open the previously given link you will see that “Folklore” is the expressive body of culture shared by a particular group of people; it encompasses the traditions common to that culture, subculture or group. These include oral traditions such as tales, proverbs, jokes and material culture.

In my country Folklore elements are still strongly present to our contemporary life – even though we do not admit it.  There is no house without an embroidery or handmade decoration item that is connected to our traditions.

The best thing with our folk influences is the variety – each geographic area has different styles but some elements such as “gold coins”, “tsarouchi” (type of shoe) etc. as spread all over Greece.

To me this stuff is beauty, pure tradition, excellent way of creating a very particular and extraordinary look taking for granted a classy, elegant, minimal, contemporary style.

That is why I was so thrilled when my best friend Martha Manta created a few 100% handmade jewelries to be introduced to you through my shop.  Take a look and let us know what you are thinking of….

To you, maybe it is a fine choice for a “small” gift and/or “souvenir” from your visit to my country.

I hope you like them.
